Volunteer

Volunteers play a vital role in all of the programs, activities and events provided at the Golden Circle. Hundreds of hours each week are logged by our volunteers and we absolutely could not provide the variety of activities that we offer without the support of our very active and engaged volunteer base!

Who can volunteer

Anyone with a desire to support the Golden Circle, and to make a difference in the lives of older adults in our community are welcome to apply to be a volunteer!

What is required

Volunteers must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check* and will be asked to sign an Oath of Confidentiality. On the job training is provided for all volunteer positions.

*Volunteer drivers require a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and individuals under the age of 18 will be required to provide references in lieu of a Criminal Record Check.

Available Opportunities

Would you like to make a difference in the community? We’d love to have you. Whether you want to work once a month or every day, every contribution counts!

Kitchen/Dining Room
There are a variety of available opportunities from serving food, delivering plates, clearing tables, doing dishes and helping with food preparation.
Bingo
Afternoon and evening bingos at the Red Deer Bingo Centre.
Frozen Meal Delivery
Deliver frozen meals from the Golden Circle to older adults who have ordered them within Red Deer, Alberta.
Grocery Delivery
Deliver groceries from Timberlands Co-op to the homes of older adults who have ordered them within Red Deer, Alberta.
Medical Rides
Provide transportation to older adults within Red Deer to and from medical appointments. Rides can also be “Out of Town” which includes Gasoline Alley, Sylvan Lake, Lacombe, Stettler, Innisfail, Olds, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka, Edmonton or Calgary.
Special Events
We often need volunteer support both at the Golden Circle and out in the community to help us with a variety of activities from decorating and clean up, to serving and clearing plates at special events, selling raffle or 50/50 tickets, supporting fundraisers like our now-annual garage sale, helping with bake sales, community events, and more!
