About Supportive Transportation Services

Eligible clients may contact their Outreach Coordinator to request transportation to a non-emergency medical appointment or escorted grocery shopping. There is a charge for supportive transportation, which is dependent on mileage etc. and we ask for a minimum of three (3) business days notice from each client to provide non-emergency medical transportation, particularly for out-of-town.

Supportive transporation include local transportation within Red Deer and out of town locations, such as Calgary, Edmonton, Gasoline Alley, Innisfail, Lacombe, Olds, Ponoka, Stettler, Sylvan Lake and Wetaskiwin.

One of our Volunteer Drivers will be assigned to each approved client’s ride and will provide transportation to and from each non-emergency medical appointment or escorted grocery trip. We encourage all clients who utilize walkers to inform us of this mobility aid when requesting a ride. We like to ensure we are able to match each client with a volunteer and vehicle that can fit their mobility aids whenever possible.

Please Note: Clients who require assistance transferring to and from wheelchairs are not eligible for our transportation program due to liability issues, and volunteer drivers who do not have wheelchair accessible vehicles.

Please contact the Red Deer Action Bus at 403-309-8400 or check out their website if you require transportation with a wheelchair, scooter or other.
